This month we will treat ourselves to another spectacular evening hiking on the Gibraltar Segment of the Ice Age Trail!
We will walk up to the mesic prairie for a good look at the sun setting over Devil's Lake State Park to the west while the moon rises to the east. This coincidence of the sunset and moonrise happens every July and August.
Not only will the sky be spectacular, but this is (close to) Bill's birthday! Cake will be served at the bench overlooking Devil's Lake...maybe ice cream if we can figure it out. Anyone else celebrating a summer birthday? Join us so we can celebrate you as well!
Our full moon hike is Saturday, August 17th, starting at the Slack Rd trailhead at 7:30 p.m. For directions visit: https//goo.gl/maps/f5TIJ
Wear appropriate clothing and shoes for the weather. Bring a light as it may be dark on the way back. This will be a short (about a mile one way) walk. Well behaved, leashed dogs are welcome.
